It's the weekend here in New Zealand. The sun is already beaming in on my kitchen, and the day is already hot. This sort of weather makes me crave sweet, cold treats...so this smoothie totally hit the spot.

It's a little heavy on the fruit side, but balanced with the protein of the milk and because it's the weekend +summer, I say what the heck, let's make the most of our glorious fruit whilst we have it.

It's all about balance and moderation and although some fruit might be fructose heavy, fructose is lower glycaemic index than glucose (eg. white sugar, brown sugar, refined carbohydrates) and our body metabolise the two quite differently.

So I am treating myself to this delcious, fruity, creamy smoothie to start my weekend. I hope you all enjoy, and have a fantastic mini break.

1 nectarine

1 banana

1 orange, peeled

1/2 cup of frozen mango

1/3 cup of coconut cream

2/3 cup of coconut milk (you can use any milk you have)

Small handful of ice

Scoop of protein if you wish - I used Nutra Organics Thriving Protein in Vanilla.

If you don't have protein powder, but what to add some extra protein, there are a few options.

For non-vegan, you can throw in a raw egg white. If you are vegan, or you just don't like the idea of raw egg, then throw in a small handful of soaked nuts.

Blend and serve immediately <3
