This smoothie is definitely a 'go to" for me. Kale and Citrus fruits are both super high in antioxidants, and both hold excellent antiinflammatory properties. The classic orange, is reknowned for being rich in Vitamin C - infact one medium orange, provides you with around about 75-80% of your daily Vit C requirements.

If you don't know much about the role of vitamin C, you might be surprised to learn that it is a power water soluble antioxidant that helps our body out by disarming many free radicals, and in doing this helping to prevent diseases such as cancer.

Our friend Kale, isn't outdone by the Orange though! It too contains powerful cancer and disease fighting antioxidants, as well as many other highly desirable qualities. It is rich in vitamins includig Vitamins K, C and A as well and contains high levels of iron, calcium and fibre. Being rich in iron makes it a perfect food for vegans and/or vegetarians, as well as pregnant, breastfeeding and menstruating women.

To make this smoothie at home, blend together:

2 oranges, peeled

1 lemon, peeled and pips removed

2 cups of Kale Leaves

2 tsp of avocado

1 cup of filtered water

1/2 cup of ice

As with any of my smoothies, feel free to add any supplements you wish. I add supergreens powder to my green smoothies, and protein powder to most of them.

Enjoy!
